The Finale

On the first meeting (#FNBclass) we were told that we're going to establish our own restaurant. Not just a restaurant, but a fine dining restaurant. So we had to come up with a name and a logo. We had to make our own organizational chart too so that every job will be divided equally to each person. We also had to come up with our own menu (searching for recipes, calculating the food costs and the selling prices). It was not an easy process but we did it anyway and it was a success! I was the Kitchen Supervisor at first but our Restaurant Manager decided that I should be assigned with a partner for the main dishes which I gladly accepted. =)

Basically we had 15 recipes all in all. And my partner and I prepared 3 out of 15 which were the main dishes. So we had different chefs for the appetizers, the soups, the main dishes, and the desserts. It was like a real restaurant and it felt like we were real professional chefs and I had the most amazing experience. I mean, I had amazing experiences from my subjects this semester but this class (#FNBclass) was the most amazing. =)

I'm really thankful for my professor on this subject for all the things (useful things) that he taught us and for letting us apply them while we are still on the learning process. Thank you also to my hardworking classmates for giving their best best best! And also for the all the people who dined with us that evening (Oct. 22) and for your feedback. Thank you also to the almighty Father for the success of Olio Restaurant and for guiding us throughout the operation. Peace out! \/^-^\/

ACTIVE-ity

*You don't have to read the 1st paragraph. It's completely irrelevant. (:P) I get sentimental sometimes. (Haha)*

I don't usually join activities at school that doesn't involve singing because that is my talent and I believed that I can't do all things but I've decided to improve myself a little bit and do things that I'm not particularly good at. ('cause you'll never know if you never try) I can be a "Jack-of-all-trades" or a "master-of-none" kind of person but I want a stable job in the future, I want to be a master of something, something I can be known for, like Regine Velasquez (Asia's Songbird) or Marian Rivera (Primetime Queen). I mean, I'm sure it feels great to be remembered at something you're good at but what about what you want? Okay, so you're good at something. But, is that what you really want? Is that what you want to do for the rest of your life? For now, I don't know what I want for myself. I can't even picture myself in the future. I can't say that I'm actually "living". I just exist. (rowt) I mean, I can be there if you want something or if you need me to do something, but don't expect me to do everything. Because I can't, I'm not perfect. I'm just a human being. (Okay, I'll stop now. haha)

Anyway, during the HRM Days, I was "active" in 3 activities namely Table Skirting, Cake Decorating, and Chef Wars. We got 1st place in Table Skirting and Cake Decorating. (Yey!) That's good, right? =)

This was the design and that's my partner on the right.
I found the design on YouTube and gave it a shot.
The judges liked it, I guess? (Hihi)

For the cake decorating, I got the idea from a picture I found on Google.
My partner(a different partner) did the octopus thing and I also did my part.
It was a teamwork, really. (:P)
See? I can be a "Jack-of-all-trades"! (Kidding. But seriously though, you're gonna need it when you're in the hospitality industry. No pun intended)

Oh, and just to be clear, I do not own these pictures. I just grabbed them from a friend of mine and decided to use them for this blog post. Unfortunately, I didn't find a picture of the dish we cooked on the 3rd event (Chef Wars) so, I'm sorry about that. Overall, I was happy with the results and I just did my very best. And that is all for tonight. Until my next post, Peace out! \/^-^\/

P.S. I also joined the street dancing competition, and I'm telling ya, I'm never doing that again. Ever.

Sembreak 2014

Today, October 25, is the official start of my sembreak! I survived another semester! (Yey!) And I'll have a few days to relax before the start of a new semester. So I decided to come back and share all my experiences this semester to you guys because so much has happened and I believe that I have developed a little bit. Yes, there's an improvement. I have learned so many things/skills from my professors and I can't wait to apply them in the future. (That is, if I can remember everything they taught me. Ha.) But there are some other things that I learned from the Internet so, thanks people from the Internet! (lol) Right now, I'm just waiting for my grades to appear on my My.IIT account. I hope I did good on all of my subjects. ^-^ Peace out! \/
